Fire sweeping down the plains

The hot breath of August blew more trouble across parched Oklahoma on Friday as wildfires destroyed thousands of acres and forced evacuations of several nearby communities.

You could smell it. You could see it. And so could the animals.

Here on Bright Morning Farm in Sand Springs, I stood with our American Highland cattle and gazed to the west at a beautiful sunset fueled by someone else’s misfortune.
