Once, someone told the boy that you only get so many laughs in every lifetime so he hoarded them until friends and time ran out.
No one heard the old man chuckle in the end.
Now he hangs out in a Burmese leather shop and waits for strangers to snicker.
Writer’s note: For years, I’ve collected overheard conversations and taken hundreds of photographs that remain a mystery because I didn’t have the time or insight to ask more questions. This WordPress writing challenge to create a story in fifty words inspired me to combine the two and imagine what might have been.
